My Tastings

BROVIA Barolo Brea Vigina CA’ MIA 2015

Pale garnet with medium + intensity With dried flowers, exotic berries, Morello cherries, Orange zest, ripe strawberries, coffee beans licorice leather, tobacco, and menthol on the palate it’s dry, medium + acid, medium + alcohol, fine grain high tannins, full body medium + intensity, Vibrant flowers, wild red berries, red plum, zest orange, asphalt, expresso, sweet baking spices, truffle, dusted earth. Chewy texture, long lingering finish. This is a very good wine.

It’s generously balanced with spirited acid and high fine tannins. The bouquet is complex and full of character. It does deliver a long finish. However, what doesn’t make this wine outstanding, is a hint of bitterness that doesn’t integrate well with its bold fruit flavors. The aromas are somewhat tight and even with time in the glass, it remains confined. This wine needs time to soften its tannins. Hold for another 10 years, It has enough backbone, structure, acid, and tannins with time will open up freely and perhaps minimizing its bitter aftertaste.
