SANTA CRUZ SOIF CHEF TOM MCNARY

If there’s one place I’m going to fulfill my gastronomic palate for dinner, I have one word……SOIF ( For your info… pronounced SWa’f, I stood corrected too, it’s French for “thirst”)… Santa Cruz is not a late nite town despite the college students….note 8:30 reservation would be pushing it. I Can’t gush enough about savoring Chef Tom Mcnary’s stupendous cuisine. My Babito and I had the distinction of interviewing this celebrated chef. I must admit I thought I was gonna get the wrath of an Irish soul…but he proves to be a teddy bear in disguise..You are immediately drawn to him and more importantly his focused compelling food.

SOIF (pronounced …SWAF…meaning french for thirst), this a restaurant acts as a wine merchant too. Soif carries from local off the grid wines and international brands too. Enjoy the bottle at the restaurant, and no corkage fee. The staff is extremely attentive, complete with open kitchen and open dining concept. It’s exposed without pretension. Savor small and large bites of California Cuisine in one of Santa Cruz’s more established, in a chic cosmopolitan and cozy setting with an impressive retail shop.

On August 7, 2018, Chef Tom McNary, owner of Carried Away caterers in Aptos, was tapped to helm the kitchen at Soif restaurant in Santa Cruz. “The choice to bring on Tom as their chef reflects what was most important to restaurateur and owner Patrice Boyle.
