If you want to literally taste WOW on your tongue, choose the best restaurant in Downtown Paso Robles. We have been coming to the downtown for years and we’ve always wanted to dine at BL Brasserie (formerly Bistro Laurent). But for one reason or the other, we couldn’t.
At first, we were in our 20s and we couldn’t afford it. Secondly and most importantly, the restaurant was always booked, and thirdly, it is in a tiny hamlet where it was difficult to find accommodation after 9 pm. I always wanted to know the man behind this restaurant that has survived a quarter of a century.
ROSEWOOD BAR AND GRILL
Established in 2002, This elegantly casual modern restaurant serves Classic American cuisine from accomplished and charismatic Chef Ian Bens. The entire menu is constantly changing to serve seasonal plates made from local and organically farm produce, sustainable fish and free range beef. Despite its popularity, one can still carry an intimate conversation in its romantic atmosphere.
If there’s one place I’m going to fulfill my gastronomic palate for dinner, I have one word……SOIF ( For your info… pronounced SWa’f, I stood corrected too, it’s French for “thirst”)… Santa Cruz is not a late nite town despite the college students….note 8:30 reservation would be pushing it. I Can’t gush enough about savoring Chef Tom Mcnary’s stupendous cuisine.
Trattoria Uliveto whose name roughly translates to “olive grove” is an exceptional trattoria in the heart of Old Orcutt – an unincorporated town in the Santa Maria Valley. Chef and owner Alfonso Curti have designed the first-rate menu of traditional Italian cuisines from locally sourced seasonal ingredients, handmade pasta, home-made Italian sausages, meticulously baked pizza from their wood-burning pizza oven, and home-made desserts, inspired by his Mamma and Nonna.
In the age of convenience and indulgence at the fingertips, Sushi Chef Ben Weissberg, owner of Shiroyama Sushi Co., is taking his concept to the masses. They offer at-home authentic Japanese Sushi, cooking lessons, private dinner parties, and small event catering. In true traditional form, impeccable freshness and legitimate practice art of rice, he personally selects all ingredients and has an exclusive relationship with his fish purveyor.
